Community Projects

March 14, 2016

We have a programme partnership with Auckland Refugee Community Coalition (ARCC), with three joint projects now fully established and flourishing: Safari Central, Safari South and Safari West Multicultural Playgroups and the WISE Collective.

The Safari Multicultural Playgroups are operated by the Auckland Regional Migrant Services (ARMS) in partnership with the Auckland Refugee Community Coalition (ARCC).  Thanks to grants from Foundation North, Ministry of Education, Guardian Trust, Hugh Green Foundation, and the Todd Foundation. They are attended by preschool children from refugee and migrant families.  Mothers are able to attend English classes and other educational activities to support their parenting skills, knowledge of community services, and community integration.  Click here for more information.

The purpose of the WISE Collective is to support former refugee women to gain useful training, knowledge, resources and confidence to generate income, using their cultural skills, interests and crafts.  Women from countries including Burma, the Congo, South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Afghanistan, and Iraq are involved in a variety of activities and upskilling.  The WISE Collective is also a joint project between the Auckland Regional Migrant Services Trust (ARMS) and the Auckland Refugee Community Coalition (ARCC).
