In Transit – Tala Pasifika Productions and Africa Connection Aotearoa are both community-oriented theatre companies with a common goal of giving a voice to minority communities that don’t get an opportunity to participate in mainstream theatre so we have come to together to produce In Transit.

In Transit written by Wanjiku Kiarie Sanderson is a play that gives voice to the NZ Ngati African and Refugee communities. It is a tribute to the role and impact Martyn Sanderson played through his lifelong involvement with the African community.

The play is a collection of stories of flight from their homelands and the struggles to find one’s place in a new country. In Transit is based on the real-life experiences of Africans living in Aotearoa NZ with a thought provoking theme about inter-generational conflict. African traditional songs, dance, music is an integral part. Production style will draw on African and Samoan Fale Aitu storytelling traditions.
